The UC Fire Network and California Fire Science Consortium are inviting you to be part of revising and oversight of our initial stages of adapting the “Guidebook for Prescribed Burning in the Southern Region” for California.
We want to share more about what edits we are proposing and what help we currently need, and also learn from you how to make this guidebook better for landowners and community members in California. Please join us March 31, 2025, from 1:00 - 3:00 pm for an informational webinar. A recording of the webinar will be available after the event.
Please Register here for zoom details.
If you can't attend, but would have comments on adapting the Guidebook chapters, please reply, noting which, and we can connect you with those working groups.
The California-adapted Guidebook aims to be accessible and introductory, increasing prescribed fire literacy for public audiences. This comprehensive document will complement other California prescribed fire resources, covering regional topics from fire ecology to permitting and liability, and post-burn monitoring, which has not yet been developed for prescribed burning on private lands in California. This guidebook aims to honor tribal perspectives and other ways of knowing, but doesn't intend to provide a comprehensive guide of cultural fire practices or traditional ecological knowledges.
We hope to see you at the webinar, and please share widely in your networks.
